Do I need to declare ADHD to the DVLA?

It depends. You are legally required to tell the DVLA about a medical condition if it affects your ability to drive safely. ADHD itself is not automatically notifiable — many people with ADHD drive safely without any restrictions. However, you must inform the DVLA if your ADHD significantly affects your concentration, attention, or impulse control while driving. You must also inform the DVLA if you take certain ADHD medications, particularly if they cause side effects such as drowsiness. The DVLA will carry out a medical assessment and may request information from your doctor. At Harley Mind Care we can provide supporting documentation for DVLA purposes where required. We recommend checking the current DVLA guidance at gov.uk/adhd-and-driving or speaking to your consultant if you are unsure.
