Once you have been on a stable dose for a period of time, you can speak with your GP about entering into a Shared Care Agreement (SCA) to transfer ongoing prescribing to the NHS.
The required stable-dose period varies between GP practices. Some GPs are willing to accept a Shared Care Agreement as soon as titration is complete; others prefer patients to remain on a stable dose for up to six months before they consider it.
We recommend asking your GP early in the titration process what their practice requires, so you know what to expect. Your Harley Mind Care consultant will continue prescribing privately throughout this period, ensuring there are no gaps in your treatment while you and your GP work towards the Shared Care Agreement.

The cost of private ADHD medication depends on whether your GP agrees to a Shared Care Agreement. If your GP takes over prescribing — which most do — you pay standard NHS prescription charges (currently £9.90 per item in England, or free if you hold an exemption certificate). If your GP declines shared care and your consultant continues prescribing privately, costs vary by medication but typically range from £80 to £180 per month for stimulant medications including the prescription and any dispensing fees. At Harley Mind Care, your first prescription following diagnosis is included in the assessment fee at no additional cost. We actively support Shared Care Agreements to minimise your ongoing costs.
