Carbon Reduction Plan
Harley Mind Care is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. As a healthcare provider operating primarily through virtual consultations, we actively implement measures to reduce our carbon footprint across all areas of our operations.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions represent our recorded greenhouse gas emissions prior to implementing carbon reduction strategies.
Baseline Year: 2024
We have calculated our initial emissions footprint as follows:
Emissions Category
Total Emissions (tCO₂e)
Scope 1 (Direct emissions from owned sources, e.g., heating)
2.5
Scope 2 (Indirect emissions from purchased electricity)
1.0
Scope 3 (Other indirect emissions, e.g., suppliers, travel, deliveries)
15.0
Total Emissions
18.5
Current Emissions Reporting
Reporting Year: 2026
Our emissions for the most recent reporting period, calculated using a refined bottom-up methodology applying UK Government (DEFRA / BEIS) conversion factors:
Emissions Category
Total Emissions (tCO₂e)
Scope 1
0.2
Scope 2
0.2
Scope 3
16.2
Total Emissions
16.6
The 2026 figures apply UK Government DEFRA / BEIS conversion factors to actual operational data and audited financial records. The refined methodology more accurately reflects HMC’s virtual-first operating model and additionally incorporates homeworking emissions for our remote workforce. Baseline (2024) and 2025 reporting figures are retained as previously published.
Progress Against Carbon Reduction Targets

Carbon Reduction Initiatives
Harley Mind Care has implemented and will continue to implement the following environmental
management measures:
Digital-First Approach
- Above 97% of consultations are delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams, significantly reducing travel-related emissions.
- All non-controlled drug prescriptions are issued electronically.
- Introduction of AI-driven digital documentation to reduce paper usage.
Energy Efficiency at Head Office
- Head office operates from a residential site with solar panels already installed.
- The building uses LPG heating, with plans to introduce more efficient heating solutions.
- Commitment to installing PIR lighting systems to improve energy efficiency.
Sustainable Travel Policy
- Staff travelling to 10 Harley Street use electric vehicles or public transport to minimise emissions.
- Since September 2025, HMC delivers some clinical sessions from Gravesham Community Hospital. Site selection was informed by clinician geography — Gravesend-based clinicians live locally, eliminating marginal travel emissions.
- We actively prioritise virtual meetings and consultations.
Supplier and Procurement Sustainability
- IT equipment: only reconditioned laptops were purchased historically. From financial year 2025/26 onwards,
- Cloud Services: Microsoft Azure and AWS, known for strong sustainability policies, are used.
- Office Supplies: Minimal procurement from Amazon, pending verification of its carbon reduction policies.
Sustainable Prescription Distribution
- Royal Mail used for controlled drug prescriptions only (clinically required), with an initiative to switch to NHS electronic prescriptions where possible.
- HMC continues to pursue NHS contracts (Kent contract pending; Birmingham site in preparation; Black Country site planned), which would further reduce reliance on private postal prescriptions by enabling NHS electronic prescription routes.
Carbon Offsetting Initiatives
- We will explore carbon offset programs for remaining emissions, investing in UK-based projects to neutralise our carbon footprint.
Future Carbon Reduction Plans
Harley Mind Care is committed to continuously improving our sustainability efforts and will explore:
- Switching all suppliers to sustainable alternatives where feasible.
- Expanding electronic prescription adoption to further reduce Scope 3 emissions.
- Achieving ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management.
- Investing in further AI-driven solutions to reduce admin workload and paper use.
- Connecting Microsoft 365 Emissions Impact Dashboard to HMC's tenant for direct measurement of cloud-related Scope 3 emissions.
Declaration and Sign-Off
