Can adults be diagnosed with ADHD later in life?

Yes — and it is more common than many people realise. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that has been present since childhood, but it frequently goes unrecognised until adulthood, particularly in women and in people who developed strong coping strategies. Many adults are diagnosed in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond, often after a child’s diagnosis prompts them to recognise the same patterns in themselves. A late ADHD diagnosis can be life-changing — providing understanding and access to treatment that makes a significant difference to work, relationships, and mental health. At Harley Mind Care, adult ADHD assessments are conducted by consultant psychiatrists and are available from age 18 upwards, online or in-person at 10 Harley Street, London.
