Dr Ibtihal Elshikh
Dr Ibtihal Elshikh is a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with over 20 years of experience in mental health services, including more than 16 years within CAMHS. She currently works at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, where she is a consultant psychiatrist in a tri-borough DBT service and a generic London CAMHS team. Dr Elshikh is GMC registered and holds an MRCPsych from the Royal College of Psychiatrists . She has held consultant posts at Chelmsford CAMHS, Basildon and Brentwood CAMHS (NELFT), and MKCAMHS (CNWL NHS Foundation Trust), where she served as a lead clinician.
Dr Elshikh’s clinical practice focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of complex psychiatric presentations in children and adolescents, including mood , self-harm, and neurodevelopmental conditions. She employs a collaborative and family-centred approach that integrates evidence-based psychiatric care with psychological and systemic principles. She is Section 12 approved and an Approved Clinician under the Mental Health Act.
Her training pathway includes rotations through all psychiatric sub-specialities, including CAMHS, General Adult Psychiatry, Liaison Psychiatry, Learning Disability Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Addiction, and Forensic Psychiatry. She has held roles as an Appraiser, and Clinical Supervisor for trainees, nurse prescribers, and pharmacists. Dr Elshikh is committed to teaching, supervision, appraisals, and service development, and she contributes to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives aligned with NICE standards and NHS quality frameworks.
