About Dr Biljana Tucker
I am a medically qualified psychiatrist with over 22 years of clinical experience in the assessment and management of mental health conditions and neurodevelopmental disorders across both NHS and independent settings. Following my undergraduate medical training, I completed a Master’s degree in Medical Anthropology, where my thesis explored therapeutic approaches to the management of psychosomatic conditions. Prior to specialising in psychiatry, I worked as a clinical trials researcher at St George’s Hospital, London.
My psychiatric training commenced in 2004 and included a broad range of placements within adult and CAMHS psychiatry across several NHS trusts in the South West of England. Throughout both my undergraduate and postgraduate training, I developed a strong interest in psychological therapies and undertook training in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, attachment-informed EMDR, and had trainee participation to family therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Earlier in my career, I also completed training in psychodrama and transactional analysis. These experiences have shaped my holistic and person-centred approach to clinical practice, with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and the importance of being a therapeutic presence for patients and families.
Since 2012, I have worked predominantly within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), undertaking numerous locum consultant psychiatrist positions across Devon, Cornwall, Avon and Wiltshire, Somerset, and surrounding regions. My clinical work has encompassed the assessment and treatment of a wide range of psychiatric presentations, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, complex trauma, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and learning disability. I have extensive experience in complex case management and multidisciplinary working, including close liaison with paediatric services, educational settings, social care, and other agencies involved in supporting children, young people, and their families.
Since 2019, my clinical focus has been primarily within neurodevelopmental services. I have held Clinical Lead roles within ADHD and Autism pathways and have also worked part-time within learning disability services. Since 2025, I have been providing specialist neurodevelopmental assessments for ADHD and Autism for independent providers, for adults and young people under age of 18. In addition to diagnostic assessments, I continue to support the management of co-occurring mental health difficulties in children and adolescents.
My particular areas of specialist interest are neurodevelopmental disorders and complex developmental trauma. I maintain an active commitment to continuing professional development and regularly undertake further training to expand my expertise in these areas. I am trained in the administration and interpretation of the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R); the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), QBCheck and have completed specialist training in EMDR and attachment-informed EMDR.
My clinical practice combines extensive psychiatric expertise with a strong grounding in developmental, relational, and trauma-informed approaches, enabling me to provide comprehensive, evidence-based, and person-centred assessments and interventions for children, young people, and adults with complex neurodevelopmental and mental health needs.
